What is RSS?

RSS is an internet technology that allows people to automatically and instantly receive updates of selected content.

Unlike receiving updates or news via email, RSS feeds give you absolute, 100% complete control over the situation.

You don’t have to reveal your email address. If you want to stop receiving content, you don’t have to request to be taken off the list.

Since there’s no email address involved, there’s no way a publisher can sell, rent or give away the means to contact you.

There’s no chance of receiving spam, viruses, etc.

You may already be using a form of feed subscription and not even realize it. If you use personalized home page services like My Yahoo or My MSN, you’ve got RSS capabilities built in. That’s how syndicated content like news, weather and stock quotes appears on your personal page.

By following the instructions below you can add content to your personal page from any blog or site that uses RSS.

1. Locate the RSS icon:

2. Click “Subscribe to our RSS feed”

You’ll find this beside the RSS icon. Clicking this will take you to a page with an array of the most popular feed readers such as these:

Add to Google

3. Select your feed reader

I use Google but would recommend going with whichever feed reader corresponds to the email service (AOL, Yahoo, etc.) you’re familiar with.

4. Click on the feed reader and you’re good to go!

As soon as you click on the corresponding icon, your RSS feed subscription is set up instantly.
